BeautyVetted is a medical transparency engine. Patients use it free, and we never charge a patient anything. This page describes exactly what we collect and where it goes.
What we collect when you look for a surgeon
Nothing that names you, to reach a practice. We do not collect your name, your email address or your phone number to contact a surgeon's office, and we never ask for your date of birth, your address, your medical history, or any card or bank details. When you pick a practice, we send you straight to its own website or its own phone number, and you reach out yourself. Your name and your contact details stay between you and the practice you choose.
Some of our guides offer a free download by email, and a newsletter signup appears on other pages. Both are optional, and each one shows a checkbox naming what it does before you can send the form. If you use either, we store the email address you give us, and the procedure the guide or the page was about when there is one, so we can send you what you asked for. A procedure tied to your email address is treated as consumer health data under Washington law, and our consumer health data page explains that in full. You can unsubscribe from any email we send in one click, or write to [email protected] and ask us to delete your address, at any time.
We keep an anonymous count of the clicks that leave our site for a practice's website or phone number, so a practice can see how many people reached out through us, and we record the procedure, city and campaign tags on the page you were on, so we can tell which of our content helps people. None of that count carries your name, your email address, your IP address or a cookie tied to you.
If you are a practice
Two forms on this site are for practices rather than patients. The AI visibility check on our practice page collects the website domain and the email address you type, and the page you submitted from, so we can ask the answer engines about your site and email you what they said. Claiming a listing collects the business email address you enter, and once the claim verifies it opens the session cookie described below.
We keep both kinds of record until you ask us to delete them, and we do not sell either one.
What we measure, and what we deliberately do not
We record anonymous page views and a small fixed set of interaction events, such as opening the practice finder, choosing practices to compare, moving between its steps, a claim click, a click through to a practice's own website or phone number, a view of an upgrade offer, and an arrival from an AI assistant. Each event stores the page path and, where relevant, which city, procedure or practice the page was about, and nothing that identifies who clicked.
When you open the homepage, our own server reads the city that Cloudflare, our hosting provider, has already worked out from your connection, and uses it to suggest the nearest metro area we cover. That lookup stores nothing, not even the city, and you can change the suggestion in one tap. We never ask your browser for your precise location.
Our own events carry no personal information at all. Not your name, not your contact details, not an identifier that links back to a request you submitted. Our own server rebuilds every event from a fixed allowlist rather than storing what the browser sends, so a field cannot be added by accident.
We also send those same page views to PostHog, an analytics provider in the United States. Alongside the page address, PostHog receives the site that referred you, any campaign tag in the link you followed, your browser, device type, screen size and time zone, and an approximate location that PostHog works out from your IP address. That is more than our own counters hold, which is why it is set out separately here.
Session recording, automatic click capture and on-page surveys are all switched off, so we do not record your screen. We also strip the query string from every address before it is sent, which means a procedure you type into our search box stays in your browser.
How long we keep it
We stopped collecting a patient's name and contact details on 2026-09-29. If you sent us a request before that date, we still hold it, and we keep its personal details for 24 months after the last activity on it, which is when you sent it or when a practice last updated it. After that we erase your name, your contact details, the site that referred you and any notes a practice wrote about your request. What stays is a record with no person in it: which procedure, which city, which practices received it and when, because that is how we count what the directory does. If you ask us to delete your details sooner, we do the same thing straight away.
Your choices
If you sent us a request before 2026-09-29, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and give us the email address or phone number you left on the request, and we will erase your details as described above. A separate data-request address is not published on this page yet. If a surgeon profile or a credential status on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. The correction process is described on our methodology page.
Health information
Our HIPAA status is not published on this page yet. Regardless of that status, we encrypt personal details at rest and keep the minimum we need.
California residents
Our CCPA position is not published on this page yet. What we can state plainly today: we do not accept money in exchange for routing your details to a practice, and no practice can buy access to more patients.
